Former flight attendant Lynn Rippelmeyer describes the combination of sheer determination and luck that gave her the chance to become to a commercial pilot in the 1970s, at a time when many believed women were incapable of the job.

 The Sugarloaf Chapter of the Ninety-Nines International Organization of Women Pilots is pleased to announce our two recipients of the Sugarloaf99s Biennial Scholarship. Our primary recipient is Sugarloaf Chapter member, Olivia Fuller. Oliva will pursue her Glider pilot certificate with the funds awarded to her. Olivia stated in her application that “Glider flying develops superior stick-and-rudder skills, sharpens weather-reading abilities, and builds a deep understanding of aerodynamics and energy management. These lessons are directly transferable to powered flight and will strengthen my abilities”. Our secondary recipient is Keystone Chapter member Eva Thierry. City of Frederick Partners with AOPA to Develop New Multi-Hangar Complex at FDK

"FREDERICK, Md., Dec. 28, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The City of Frederick has awarded the lease of a 620,000 SF site at Frederick Municipal Airport (FDK) to the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) for the development of a hangar complex consisting of up to 194,400 square feet of general aviation aircraft hangars.
