Air Race Classic
The Ninety-Nines has a long history with Air Racing and several of our chapter members have raced in The Air Race Classic, the only race just for women pilots in the United States.
Sugarloaf 99s Chapter Members Lin Caywood, Carol Caywood, and Susan Beall competed in the 2016 Race as Team Number 12 - Team Freakin Awesome! Susan and Lin also competed together in 2011, 2012 and 2014. Lin also competed with Carolyn Van Newkirk in 2010, Robin Hadfield in 2015 and Janet Davidson in 2017.
The race is held the 3rd week of June each year. The race flybys at the airports with timing stops will be broadcast on LiveATC.net and racers will be tracked on a GPS tracking website that is accessible via the ARC website.
Follow Team Freakin Awesome's Blog at www.99lin.shutterfly.com to receive updates on their race preparation, updates during the 4 day race, and post- race results.
